Back to Oman after a month long vacation in India. Back to the drab reality of Oman… the stifling heat, the air conditioning, dependence on others for transport, people gossiping behind your back, the judgmental stares, the general lack of liveliness, lack of things to do to keep myself occupied, and so on ….
I did not want to leave Mumbai despite the hot humid weather and the pollution. The rains, though messy, were soothing. I could come and go as I pleased. I did not have to wait to be picked up or dropped back. There were always people around where ever you go, no matter what the time.
I got a chance to visit Bangalore this time. I fell in love. The weather was gorgeous! The people weren’t as friendly as the people in Mumbai, but the government officials were a lot more helpful compared to the ones in Mumbai. The place was a good mix of Mumbai and Oman with beautiful weather. What more could a person ask for. I now know why people love Bangalore.
But the highlight of this trip had to be the 3 hour bike ride to Damman and back. The ride was breathtakingly beautiful. It was the Indian countryside in all its glory, the colors nice and bright, all the dust washed away by the rain. The skies a beautiful blue with clouds in all shades of white and grey. It was indeed a sight to behold.
